  3. Observation • CARLA has proven itself • It has momentum But • CARLA Has a High Drop-Out Rate • Factors: • User’s training & knowledge of the language • Consultant’s ability and availability • Appropriateness of the CARLA tool

  4. Picking a tool... • ... that’s not powerful enough: • Leaves too much work to the user. • E.g. constantly selecting from ambiguous parses by hand. • Discourages discovery. • E.g. fudging analysis to “make it work”. On the other hand...
