Major Field Test Outline • Standardized test conducted by Educational Testing Service (ETS) for business schools • Designed to assess mastery of concepts, principles and knowledge expected of a business student • Participating universities: 100 graduate, 400 undergraduate
COB Reasons for Participation • MFT is a part of our Assessment Process that include other evaluations, viz., alumni, graduating students, and employer surveys • Helps us understand how well we are doing nationally and with respect to our peer and aspirant institutions • MFT is a direct measure of “Assurance of Learning,” a requirement in AACSB accreditation • Helps us in continuous improvement • Individualized student score and ranking/rating helps in the job market
MBA/Graduate Test Format • Multiple Choice Test: A total of 120 questions, divided into two parts of 60 questions, each part of 90 minutes • May take a short break after one part • Scores are reported on a scale of 220-300 • Individual score and ranking are also provided • Five Assessment Indicators • Marketing (20%) • Management (20%) • Finance (20%) • Managerial Accounting (20%) • Strategic Integration (20%)
BBA/Undergraduate Test Format • Multiple Choice Test: A total of 120 questions, divided into two parts of 60 questions, each part is of 60 minutes • May take a short break after one part • Scores are reported on a scale of 120-200 • Individual score and ranking are also provided • Nine Assessment Indicators (test of knowledge) • Accounting (15%) • Economics (13%) • Management (15%) • Quantitative Business Analysis (11%) • Information Systems (10%) • Finance (13%) • Marketing (13%) • Legal and Social Environment (10%) • International Issues (Overlapping)
Points to Remember • Fill-in your personal information correctly • Do the best you can • Use the elimination technique, there is no penalty for guessing • Answer the questions in order, as asked for • Write the TEST DATE and TIME, arrive early • Be sure to get some rest before the day of the test Good Luck!
