The first Takht of the Sikhs is Sri Akaal Takht Sahib Jee. • Akaal Takht means The Timeless Throne. • Guroo Hargobind Sahib Jee (6th Guroo), Bhai Gurdas Jee & Baba Buddha Jee built the Akaal Takht themselves. • The two swords of Miri and Piri were placed on Guroo Hargobind Sahib Jee by Baba Buddha Ji. • There are two Nishan Sahibs near Sri Akaal Takht Sahib. One higher then the other. The higher one stands for Saint & the other one for Soldier. • A Sikh of the Guroo must first be a Saint and then a Soldier. • Guroo Hargobind Sahib Jee used to spend their evenings in Akaal Takht Sahib & listen to Dhadi’s. • Sri Akaal Takht Sahib is the highest political institution of the Sikhs were final decisions are made with Sri Guroo Granth Sahib Jee’s help. • The Akaal Takht has been attacked many times including an attack in 1984.
