Primary Glaucomas (open angle and angle closure)

Hypermetropia
4. Methods & Materials A pilot study between Jan & Apr 2006
40 Glaucoma patients (both open angle and angle closure glaucoma)
Equal number of non glaucomatous patients with hypermetropic and myopic refractive errors
5. Patient evaluation A detailed routine examination was done for all the patients.
The following parameters were measured and analysed
Lens Thickness
Anterior Chamber Depth
Central Corneal Thickness

10. Lens Thickness & AC Depth There is a definite increase in Lens Thickness and diminished Anterior Chamber Depth in PACG compared to POAG group.
In hypermetropes, there is an increase in lens thickness and decrease in anterior chamber depth compared to myopes

12. Central Corneal Thickness CCT does not show any obvious difference in these four groups.
13. Conclusion From this small pilot study, it is evident that increase in lens thickness and diminution of anterior chamber depth have definite correlation with the incidence of PACG.
Hence it is very essential to follow the hypermetropes carefully in the fourth and fifth decades for occurrence of PACG.
