Faculty with Research Labs • Dr. Nancy Alvarado-Areas of expertise: Cognitive, Emotion, ExperimentalPsychology. • Research Interests: Cognition and emotion, facial expression, categorization and naming, human-computer interaction and affective computing. • Recruits new assistants: First week of each quarter. (on leave fall 2012) • Approximate number of assistants: 10. • Current Research Projects: Cold Pressor Pain Study
Faculty with Research Labs • Dr. Bettina Casad-Areas of expertise:Social, Experimental, Physiological, Applied Psychology. • Research Interests: Stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination; race and gender stereotype violation; social norms; implicit attitudes; psychology of women/gender. • Recruits new assistants: apply in Spring/Summer, begin in Fall. • Approximate number of assistants: 10-15. • Current Research Projects: Students’ Experiences in Math and Science Study; Engineering/Biology Research Teams; Robotics Education through Active Learning; Various studies on stereotype threat
Faculty with Research Labs • Dr. Erika DeJonghe- Areas of expertise: ClinicalPsychology. • Research Interests: Child psychology; intimate partner violence; violent and aggressive behavior; psychotherapy with children and families. • Recruits new assistants: As needed (on leave spring 2012) • Approximate number of assistants: 5-10. • Current Research Projects: Assessment of the ADVANCE Program (under-representation of women among STEM faculty); Aggressive Behavior via Electronic Media; Empire Study (prevalence of partner violence in the Inland Empire)
Faculty with Research Labs • Dr. Juliana Fuqua-Areas of expertise: Developmental, HealthPsychology. • Research Interests: Primary interest: Environment-mind-body links (e.g., commuting and stress). Secondary interest: Adolescent risky behavior (e.g., substance use, adolescent pregnancy, identification with at-risk peer groups); evaluation of teams (e.g., adolescent health teams); Other interests: topics related to developmental psychology and health psychology. • Recruits new assistants: usually end of spring, sometimes as needed.(on leave spring 2012) • Approximate number of assistants: 2-4 • Current Research Projects: Commuting stress

Mio- Areas of expertise: Clinical, Multicultural, Applied Cognitive/Social, Political Psychology. • Research Interests: Metaphor usage, particularly in politics; cross-cultural issues; development of allies across demographic groups. • Recruits new assistants: in Spring to begin in Fall. • Approximate number of assistants: 3-5. • Current Research Projects: Metaphor Studies
Faculty with Research Labs • Dr. Jill Nemiro-Areas of expertise: Organizational Psychology, Program Evaluation. • Research Interests: Organizational and team creativity; high-performance teams; virtual teams; program evaluation; qualitative research methodology. • Recruits new assistants: As needed, usually once a year in the Fall. • Approximate number of assistants: 2-4 (on leave winter & spring 2013) • Current Projects: School Robotics Initiative (SRI), to work on the SRI project, you need to have taken PSY 430; Science Teams; Assessment of the ADVANCE Mentoring Program. • NEW organizational psychology professor Dr. Sara Langford begins in fall 2012!
