  1. Frogs By Duncan Winburn

  2. What’s Their Phylum? • Frogs are amphibians. They have no subphylum.

  3. “Defend Yourselves, Men!” Some defensive structures for frogs are camouflage, playing dead and even poison! If a predator came by, a frog could hide, play dead or sometimes squirt poison.

  4. “Movin’ Right Along!” • A frog’s movement structures are its legs and its webbed feet. It uses its legs to jump around and its webbed feet to swim.

  5. “I’m Hungry.” • A frog’s structures for obtaining resources are its big eyes andits sticky tongue. If a fly came by, a frog could see it with its big eyes and stick its tongue out at the fly to catch it.

  6. Endothermic or Ectothermic? • A frog is ectothermic. Most endothermic animals do not mind the cold. Because frogs are ectothermic, they do not live in the cold. If their environment changed, they would die quickly.

  7. Respond to the Environment! • Frogs shed because they breathe through their skin. Their skin needs to stay moist, so they shed when it gets dry.

  8. Environmentals • Hibernation: does not hibernate • Migration: does not migrate • Defense: defense seen on “Defend Yourselves, Men!” (Slide) • Courtship: mates to have kids and continue the species

  9. Inside Responses • When frogs get hungry, they eat flies. Eating is one of the keys to survival.

  10. “Behave!” • Some learned behavior is learning where the most food is. • Some inherited behavior is swimming.
