Content presentation • IDVV • Track 1: Basic VTM services • Track 2: Single window for inland navigation • Track 3: Research – logistic challenges • Vessel Traffic Management Centres of the future (VCM)
Impuls Dynamisch Verkeersmanagement VaarwegenIDVV Impulse to the development of Dynamic Traffic Management on the waterway network in the Netherland Part of a policy vision on Vessel Traffic Management VTM2015 … 100 Meuro….. 2010-2013
The problem 4 • Increased traffic jams and environmental pressure • Shift from water to road • Reliability of inland navigation decreases • Congestion and increased waiting times at locks and ports
Policy objectives 5 5 • Sustainable transport • Inprove position of inland navigation in the transport chain; • Shift from road to water; • Benefits for the environment by shifting to rail and water. Program objectives • Reliable voyage times • Maintain safety level • Fast and reliable incident management • Improve the use of infrastructure • Reduce administrative burden • Improve quality of the basic information
Track 3 Research - Logistic challenges A new logistical system Challenge Knowledge creation on how to optimise traffic management on Dutch waterways: • How transport operators can be stimulated and persuaded to make the choice for IWT instead of road? • What new logistical concepts can strengthen this goal and accommodate the increase IWT between Rotterdam and the hinterland? • How economically feasible are they? • And what kind of (economic) policy should be considered to implement them? Actions to be taken The current logistical system
Track 1: Basic governmental services • Implementation of a Vessel Traffic Management Supporting System VOS (RIS system) • Vessel Traffic Management Centres of the future • ICT on governmental vessels supporting Vessel Traffic Management

Objectives and results VCM Development of concept for “Vessel Traffic Management Centres of the future” and implement a VTM centre as proof of the concept • Integral Vessel Traffic Management: VTS, control of locks and bridges , traffic planning services as a support to the logistic chain • Improve efficiency for private and public parties by • Interaction and integration of VTS and control of locks and bridges. • Uniformity and optimal use of the systems for traffic management like AIS, inland ECDIS, VOS. Projectresults: • Blueprint of the concept for Vessel Traffic Management Centres • Transitionplan with CBA
