Geospatial Science What is GIS? - Geographic Information Systems (GIS) - uses computers and software to organize, develop, and communicate geographic knowledge. GIS is about visualizing information! Is Geospatial Technology for me? The course: * offers 6 dual-enrollment credits through James Madison University that may be transferable to other institutions * requires students to be self-motivated, good with the use of technology, able to work with others, and able to work in a project-based environment * Geospatial Science is designed as a senior-level course, however, juniors with a strong interest in GIS careers or the use of geospatial technology are accepted. (A second year is possible only with JMU permission) * is an excellent course-to-career opportunity * is an elective, it cannot be used to satisfy one of the science requirements for standard or advanced studies diploma For more information, see your Guidance Counselor, Science Department Chair, or visit these websites: LCPS Geospatial Technology website: http://www.lcps.org/Page/99812 JMU Geospatial Semester website: http://www.isat.jmu.edu/geospatialsemester/
