  2. The small dog walked to the end of the driveway and faced a decision. He could take off and try to catch up to his friend Billy on his way to school OR he could go back where the backyard met the forest and go on an exploring expedition. What will he do? Go after Billy? Explore the forest?

  3. Going After Billy • One bright morning, a small dog named Spike was walking around his driveway when he noticed the neighbor boy Billy walking down the street on his way to school. He decided to follow Billy and go check out this place where he sees Billy come and go from every day. He started running after Billy to try to catch up.

  4. Going after Billy • When he finally caught up to Billy, he was so tired. Billy was happy to see him and stopped for a while to pet Spike. Billy thought it would be a good idea for Spike to hide in his backpack, and come with him on his fieldtrip to Valleyfair. Spike was so excited that he couldn’t control himself from yipping with joy.

  5. Going after Billy • When Spike and Billy were at Valleyfair, they went on a whole bunch of rides together. Spikes favorite ride was the Wild Thing. He could sit right next to Billy and have so much fun going up and down over the bumps on the rollercoaster. It started to get late so Billy decided that they could go on one last ride and then he would have to take him home so that his owners didn’t realize he was missing.

  6. Going after Billy • The final ride that they went on was the Power Tower. Spike had never been on this ride before so he told Billy to zip up the backpack really tight so he knew he wouldn’t fall out. The ride started and they were off. Up and up they went as the ride sailed them higher into the air. Right when they got to the top, Billy realized he didn’t strap the backpack down… Explore the Forest? The End

  7. Exploring the Forest • There once was a small dog named Spike. He decided to go into the backyard one morning and take an exploring expedition deep into the dark and scary forest. He finally mustered up the courage to walk in, and once he did he got swallowed up by the trees. Spike was really scared at first that he wouldn’t be able to find his way home. He made the decision to try to ask for help from a nearby bear. Spike realized that the bear couldn’t talk because he couldn’t open is mouth since there was so much honey in it.

  8. Exploring the Forest • Spike thought it was best to move on and try someone else. After about 20 minutes, Spike ran into another lost dog named Buddy and a squirrel named Hammy. Together these three talked for a long time about the wild and all the fun times they have had with their owners. After a while, Buddy told Spike that he had to go home. Spike still didn’t know where he was going, so he decided to follow Buddy all the way through the forest back towards home.

  9. Exploring the forest • When he was following Buddy, he discovered that Buddy had met another animal in the forest. Its name was Helga and she was a jackrabbit. Spike found out that Helga was rescued from the clingy branches of a tree. After that Spike finally found his way home and ran inside to get dinner. What a crazy day he had! This is something that he will surely remember forever.
