  2. Possessive Pronouns • Definition: A possessive pronoun is a pronoun that shows ownership of something.

  3. Possessive Pronouns • The following possessive pronouns can stand alone: Hers Mine Ours Theirs Yours EXAMPLE: The coat is mine. The shoes are yours.

  4. Possessive Pronouns • The following pronouns must be used before nouns: Her Its My Our Their Your EXAMPLE: Her car is red. Our car is black.

  5. Possessive Pronouns • The pronoun his may be used either way. EXAMPLE: That is his dog. That dog is his.

  6. Directions: Write the possessive pronoun in each sentence. • Lora lost her bracelet. • The students should take their books. • Brad entered his sculpture in the contest. • How did Texas get its name? • Isn’t Alaska noted for its salmon? • Gina, where is your brother? • Mr. Owens found his keys. • Travis brought his mother a beautiful scarf from India. • Lisa drove her car to the top of the mountain. • Pam sprained her ankle while skiing.
