NAtChem/Precipitation Chemistry - Results to Date • Canada-US Biannual Air Quality Progress Report • 2004 Acid Rain Science Assessment Report • NADP Annual Report • Front Lobby / EC-HQ Display • Raster grid data (in ArcView format) for various data requests • Material Corrosion Study
NADP Annual Report Joint product of the US National Atmospheric Deposition Program and the Canadian National Atmospheric Chemistry Database and Analysis Facility (NADP and NAtChem) The NADP 2003 Annual Summary
2004 Acid Rain Science Assessment Report nss-SO4= Wet Deposition 5-Year Mean Pattern Changes 20 MT 1990-1994 15 MT 1996-2000 SO2 Emissions
2004 Acid Rain Science Assessment Report Changes from 1990-1994 To 1996-2000 nssSO4= Wet Deposition SO2 Emissions -19% -25% -14% -20% ENA: -15% ENA: -21%
2004 Acid Rain Science Assessment Report Mass Balance Estimates of US to Canada Transboundary Transport Results: • 45 to 75% of the sulphur wet deposited in eastern Canada is attributable to eastern US SO2 emissions • US emission reductions play a major role in lowering sulphur wet deposition in eastern Canada
NAtChem/Precipitation Chemistry - Planned Work • Develop a new set of enhanced wet deposition maps that include climatological precipitation data • Prepare papers on the Acid Rain Science Assessment results • Continue to collect/convert/quality assure/archive/analyze North American precipitation chemistry data
NEW NAtChem/PM and Toxics Database - Status • The networks included in archive are: and 9 additional historical networks • Data and products are now accessible on-line - Data Exchange Standard (DES) files - Summary Statistics files (Annual, Seasonal & Quarterly) - Time series plots
NAtChem/PM and Toxics Database - Results to date • NAtChem data and products made available online at: http://www.msc.ec.gc.ca/natchem • Provided input to the Transboundary PM Report
NAtChem Data and Products Online • Data can be selected by: • Database type • Network • Year • Province/State • Parameter group • Has resulted in increased use of NAtChem data and products • Uses the Ontario Region server and infrastructure
NAtChem Data and Products Online • Data Exchange Standard (DES) data files • Summary statistics files • Overlay time series plots • Continuous time series plots • Sampling history plots – by parameter • Isopleth maps
