Garstyčios.grūdas Charity and Support Fund in Lithuania has been dedicated to the psychosocial rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners into society since 2004. The organization runs the unique Oasis rehabilitation center in the Alytus correctional house, helping prisoners with drug, alcohol, or criminal behavior addictions. Through individual and group activities, vocational training, and workplace skills development, the fund aims to support convicts and ex-prisoners in overcoming addiction, finding employment, and reintegrating successfully into society. About organisation • Charity and support fund „Garstyčios grūdas” since 2004 is implementing prisoner’s psychosocial rehabilitation and reintegration into society and labor market activities. • „Garstyčios grūdas“ has unique psychosocial rehabilitation centre for prisoners that are drug/alcohol addicts. Center „Oasis“ is situated in Alytus correction house 5th sector.
About organisation • Center at the time works with 35-56 prisoners that has drug,alcohol or criminal behavior addictions. • Prisoners voluntarily chose to enter the psychosocial and vocational program for 1,5-3,5years, until they finish their sentence. • Center has joinery workshop, where prisoners gain vocational training. • Center has computer class, leicure room,kitchen and even jim.
About activities 1. Social rehabilitation – individual and group motivation on purpose to form or restore social and self-sufficing skills: • Personal needs assessment • Psychologist and socialworker individual consultation 2. Vocational rehabilitation – personal training for work and employment opportunities enlargement • Computer literacy training • Law literacy training • English language training • Mentor individual and group counseling • Work therapy • Recruitment consultant individual counseling • Joiner profession theoretical and practical training • 3. Practical training in the workplace (practical job skills training)
About goals We strive to help convicts and ex-prisoners become valuable members of society, that they: • Would learn to cope with addiction disease • Would find job and create family • Would not come back to prison
