  2. Agenda • IPCWLM project / IPCRECLASS status • IPCPUB / IPCCAT-neural cross lingual prototype

  3. IPCWLM Project Status • IPCWLMS implementation contract: • Contract signed: June 2018 • Clarification phase: July to October 2018 • Planning revised at the end of the clarification period targets IPCWLMS first production use for Q4 2019

  4. IPCWLMS Analysis phase completed • New requirements identified: • Multiple revisions warning file: to alert when the same symbol appears in several IPC revisions (For on-line and off-line reclassification) • Reclassification symbolsvaliditycheckingagainst all RCL of pending IPC reclassifications • Analysis of DOCDB XML fields required by IPCWLMS • Commercial offer and timelines for implementation

  5. IPCWLMS Implementation phase • IPCWLMS1 targeted end: Q1 2019 • Infrastructure & remote access (including for WIPO delta) • DOCDB XML excerpts processing • WL creation and distribution algorithm

  6. IPCWLMS Implementation phase • IPCWLMS1 targeted end: Q1 2019 • Simulation files (WL and automatic RL files) • Testing of simulation files by volunteering Offices based on IPC 2019.01 (and August 2018 DOCDB XML full extract ?): Jan. 15 to Feb. 10, 2019 • Report about simulation: CE 51 ~Feb. 15, 2019

  7. IPCWLMS Implementation phase • IPCWLMS2: targeted end Q4 2019 (IPC 2020.01 WL) • Management of Intellectual Reclassification essentially based on IPCRECLASS functionality (~Jun. 2019) + Testby volunteering Offices? • Management of ResidualWLs, reclassification statistics, (~Aug. 2019) • Freeze of IPC reclassification for the Transition from IPCRECLASS to IPCWLMS (~SepT.2019) • Support services (~Oct. 2019)

  8. IPCRECLASS • Email-based submission of RL Stopped (as from July 1, 2018) • WL for IPC 2019.01 to beproduced by the EPO for the last time i.e. according to legacy distribution algorithm

  9. IPCPUB- IPCCAT • IPCCAT neural retrained with DOCDB XML 2018 : • Coverage at Maingroup level: EN 99% FR 90% • Precisionat Maingrouplevel: EN 89% FR 83% • Coverage at subgroup level: EN 99% FR 90% • Precisionat subgroup level: EN 82% FR 73%

  10. IPCCAT-neural cross lingual prototype • Just completed tests: • comparison between: • cross lingual IPCCAT EN taking FR documents as input • Native FR IPCCAT taking the same FR documents as input • Preliminary conclusion: Focus WIPO resources on only one instance of IPCCAT neural cross lingual, trained with EN collection + automatic translation based on WIPO translate • More conclusions and detailed results will be disclosed at the opportunity of IPC CE 51

  11. Incentive to R&D in text categorization: WIPO-Delta training collection • Incentives for research and development institutes interested in automatic text categorization : • WIPO DELTA 2018 EN and FR collections available upon request since April 2018 • More than 40 R&D institutes requested WIPO Delta in the past 6 months

  12. IT operations and support for IPC Questions? Thank you
