Proposal for music CD Cover design

1. Proposal for music CD Cover design I am planning on creating a design for a music CD cover for a small band called Don Broco for one of their singles: Priorities. I want to design a cover that reflects the band as well as the subject of the individual song using graphics and photographs. I aim to create a product with a professional finish. The intended audience for my product is the target audience of the band: young people who like rock music. Their music appeals to young people because their songs are about being young and having fun and loving/losing people. Being a young person, I can relate to their music that is one of the reasons why I have chosen to create a CD cover for them; their music is an inspiration to me. One of my influences when deciding what to do for this CD cover was my musical preferences. I thought that it would be easier to create a piece for someone I am familiar with than for a made-up band or band that I don’t listen to as I wouldn’t have as much of an understanding about what they are about and what their music is about. Another influence came from my career goals to have a job in the media industry, preferably in the music or film industry so this task is ideal in that I have knowledge of the industry that can help me produce work to a high standard.

2. In the past 2 weeks, I have been experimenting with different ideas on Photoshop, combining inspiration from the internet to my ideas using colours and themes but thus far, I have not come up with a final design because with each design, there has been something not quite right for my brief that I wrote in my proposal. 3. Since my last update, I have experimented some more with Photoshop and created a CD cover with a circus and vintage theme. I have used two different fonts that I feel compliment both elements of my theme and tried to successfully combine old and circus. (17/5/12)
