There are 2 types of engineering that are used at the coast Hard Engineering= this means using solid structures to resist forces of erosion Soft Engineering (or Holistic approaches)= this is an approach that considers all aspects if management including; environment, social and economic factors. It usually uses smaller structures often from natural resources. Hard and soft engineering
Sea Wall- £2000 per metre Groynes- £2000 per metre Off-Shore Reef Gabions- £100 per metre Revetments- £1000 per metre Rip Rap- £300 per metre
Beach replenishment Managed retreat Beach Nourishment- £500-1000 per square metre Cliff Regrading
