School Improvement UpdatesSY 13-14 Student Performance Worksheet • On hold. Instead, see instead, the Assessment Rubric (Student Performance Data Document). • School Principals must use District Data Collection System • Prevents teachers from spending time analyzing data by hand • Each school should have a Data POC (extra duty) that works to enter assessment data and create charts/graphs. Works with Joe. Status Reports • “EOY” no longer. Ongoing “Status Report” used as living document • Where is the school now and what are the Goals/Objectives • Use to communicate results • Schools do not have to do a long word document for now. Schools should use the District PowerPoint Status Report Template as a MINIMUM. Principals can add/modify. These are just minimum components. • Joe and Amy can help!
School Improvement UpdatesSY 13-14 Student Performance Data Document • Rubric—Used starting Spring Accreditation 2014 • Four components, part of a weighted Accreditation Score • Assessment Quality • Test Administration • Quality of Learning • Equity of Learning • Status Report Data is critical component • Aligned • Schools that updatetheir Status Report and their Improvement Plan continually will find these all fit together! Nothing extra!

Just call or email! • Accreditation Management System • Accreditation Status • Weighted Scores • Surveys start SY 2014-2015 • Student Performance Data/Assessment SY 2013-2014 • Standards & ELEOT 2013-2014 • ELEOT—informs standards scores • Importance of Status Report—again. Kill many birds with a few stones!
School Improvement UpdatesSY 13-14 School Profile • A School Profile is typically a combination of Executive Summary, Status Report, and other pertinent information. • Mr. Talley has said he plans on providing principals consistent, concise guidance on the school profile soon. For now, no lengthy word document combining the two is required. • For now, continually update Executive Summary, Status Report, and Improvement Plan.
Priorities and FocusSY2013-14 HQ and District Resources: • Spreadsheet with all required actions, promising practices, opportunities for improvement by school across DoDEA. • Shows our results/scores as compared to Areas, DoDEA, and AdvancED overall scores. • Demonstrates common improvement areas—there are HQ and District areas in Standard 3 and 5 that are particularly low. HQ has asked districts to begin addressing within district and schools. • Spreadsheet with all scores from last year FOCUS: Moving from DATA RICH, INFORMATION POOR To ACTION ORIENTED SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
Priorities and FocusSY2013-14 • If considering new academic goals, conduct environmental scan and research on school wide interventions and assessments. Engage CSI ISS and ED RESEARCHER in the process. Identify ISS support as needed • Focus must be on making data-driven decisions. • Authentic improvement at the school level means that the school level efforts are the sum of what teachers are already doing • Do not create extra work • Work more efficiently • Consider purpose for meetings • Let the framework and resources save you time! • Front loading is the most difficult so use PD time and CSILT time to do this. And ask joe/amy to help! • Subgroups—Measurable Objectives • Appropriate Strategies • Appropriate Assessments (see rubric) • School improvement story is told via Status Reports and School Improvement Plans
