一、前言 • APNIC、ARIN及RIPE-NCC自1998年開始發放IPv6 Production Address Space • 1999年二月中華電信(電信研究所)成為6Bone的 Backbone Site, 正式成為我國 IPv6 之發展窗口 • 2000年二月中華電信獲得由APNIC分配之 2001:238::/35 IPv6 商用位址 區段 • 2001年七月中華電信HiNet 開始 Production IPv6 Field Trial,並開始各 項IPv6功能測試與研究 • 2002年一月中華電信加入行政院NICIIPv6推動小組之骨幹建設分組 (數據分公司)及標準測試分組(電信研究所)
一、前言(cont.) • 目前在IPv6的狀況是其網路層設備技術已漸趨成熟(包含路由協定及轉 換機制-Transition Mechanism),而相關的標準亦已陸續建立,Service Provider 應可開始相關的基礎網路建設 • 日本在IPv6推動非常積極,政府及民間全力投入, NTT及IIJ均已試用 超過一年,IIJ並已推出商業服務; 韓國在此方面亦積極投入研究及標準的建立工作 • 新一代的IPv6網路的發展 < == 政府的積極推動及民間的熱烈參與

三、 HiNet IPv6 位址配發 /35 /48 /64 FP TLA sub-TLA Res NLASLA Interface ID 16 64 13 35 • Netname : HINET-TW-20000208 • Netnumber : 2001:0238::/35
三、 HiNet IPv6 位址配發(cont.) 1.每一連接至HiNet之ISP型用戶,於試用期配給 prefix length /41位址空 間,該ISP可再配發給其終端試用戶(End-user) : - 8,388,608 subnets per site (/42 ~ /64) Example : 2001:0238:0000::/41 2001:0238:1800::/41 2001:0238:0700::/41 2001:0238:1F00::/41 2.每一連接至HiNet之組織型用戶(Organization or Leased-line user),於試 用期配給 prefix length /48位址空間,該用戶可再配發給其終端試用戶 (End-user): - 65,536 subnets per site (/49 ~ /64) Example : 2001:238:0002::/48 2001:238:1802::/48
三、 HiNet IPv6 位址配發(cont.) 3.每一連接至HiNet之HiNet ADSL固接式用戶(By Configured Tunnel 設 定),於試用期配給 prefix length /64位址空間,該用戶可運用作為其 LAN prefix使用Stateless 或 Stateful方式配發給其終端試用戶(End-user): - 1.8*1019 hosts per subnet Example : 2001:0238::/64 + EUI-64 2001:0238::A00:20FF:FEC2:4BCE /64 2001:0238:F00:5::/64 + EUI-64 2001:238:F00:5:230:F1FF:FE03:AE03

五、HiNet Trial Services(cont.) • 九十年七月一日起至九十一年六月三十日 • IPv6 Tunnel Service:試用戶須為 HiNet 固接式客戶(含專線及ADSL),試用戶使用 IPv6 • Configured Tunnel 設定,並以 HiNet 配發之 IPv6 位址連接至本網路,試用 • 戶須另指定一個 IPv4 位址作為建立 Tunnel 之用。 • IPv6 Native Service:試用戶使用 HiNet 配發或自行申請之 IPv6 位址,並自備支援 IPv6協定 • 之路由器,租用中華電信之高速數據電路連接至本網路;本服務提供試用 • 戶建立獨立之 IPv6 連外網路 • IPv6 TWIX Service:試用戶須自行申請 IPv6 位址及AS number,並自備 TWIX 機房端與試用 • 戶端支援 IPv6 協定之路由器,以高速數據電路連接至 IPv6 TWIX 網路作訊 • 務交換。

六、問題分享 • - The Multi-homing Problem(RFC2260) • IPv4 multi-homing routing issue could not be adopted in IPv6 hierarchical • addressing design • Loosing load-share and back-up mechanism ! • The standard solution will be more helpful on the commercial • provision • - IPv6/IPv4 Interoperability • Now IPv6 network just likes a lonely island ; Server Farms locate in IPv4 • Service Providers need IPv6 Transition Mechanisms 6 -- > 4 , 4 -- > 6: • NAT-PT(RFC2766)-Application Gateways(ALG’s) for DNS, FTP… etc.、 • BIS (RFC2767)、BIA 、DSTM(Dual Stack Transition Mechanism) • === > For SPs, the venders’ support is very important !
六、問題分享(cont.) • - Hierarchy Aggregation • Only Top Level Aggregators(Tier-1 or Tier-2 SPs) will be assigned • address blocks, the effect is downsizing the Routing Table; • How about the small-to-mid size ISPs or enterprises which need to run their own • network policy. Some kind of trade-off ? • - The IPv6 Address Allocation • Prefix Length “/35 ~ /X” for LAN port subnet and WAN port ? • How can we efficiently use IPv6 address space but don't limit the interconnectivity • of users ? • We are trying and searching some kind of experience to delegate the feasible • IPv6 Blocks
六、問題分享(cont.) • - IPv6 Address Naming Issue • How to remember such a long 128-bit IPv6 address ? • How to support tremendous requirement of domain name mapping in DNS ? • Once IPv6 grows up, can the traditional DNS mechanism and solution support the • huge naming database without influencing the look-up performance ? Even think • about the dynamic DNS issue ! • “Good DNS” will help users feel more easy to close IPv6 Network • - Killer Application of IPv6 • Wireless(Mobile IP, 3G … etc. ) • Services of Broadband xDSL, FTTx(fiber to the home、Fiber to the Building … etc.) • which will exhaust large IP blocks
七、結論 • The Future Trial Works of IPv6 in HiNet • - Cooperate with NICI IPv6 backbone team • - Connect to IPv6 IX(Internet Exchange) • - Multicast • - VoIPv6 • - Home Network • - IPSec • - QoS-DiffServ • - IPv6 for Wireless LAN • - MPLS over IPv6 • - Mobile IP-IPv6 over 3G Cellular
