Terse ImageJ Manual When you startup ImageJ, the main console will appear on your screen. The relevant features of the main console for this activity are summarized below. File – managers opening, saving, closing of image files Edit – undo button, cut, copy, and paste Analyze – measure toolbar, set measurements Image – adjust picture setting, properties, and crop pictures
Loading an Image 1. Click File > Open (Crtl+O) 2. Browse for image, select image, click Open 3. Selected image will appear in new window
Calibrate an Image 1. Click Image > Properties 2. Enter image calibration factor for pixel width, heigth, & depth. Change unit of length to microns 3. Check input and click OK
Image Measurements 1. Length Measurements: Right click line icon for length measurement options 2. Click and drag over feature of interest. Click Analyze > Measure (Crtl +M) 3. Measurement will appear in new Results window Feature
Image Measurements Cont. 4. Area Measurements: Choose from following options on Main Console Freehand Polygonal Area Elliptical Area Rectangular Area 5. Outline area of interest. Right click to close outline. 6. Repeat Steps 2- 3 to record area measurement.
