A lesson plan is an outline or script which is used to think through every class ahead of time as well to keep you on track while teaching. Lesson plans are created by the trainer as a supplement to the training material. They are not interchangeable with instructor manuals. Though this example is pretty standard, you don’t have to duplicate it exactly. Make one of your own that works for you. But first, understand each component and its importance. A basic lesson plan

The Objective Component Punching In and Out 1/14/07 Ceridian for Employees Pearl Creek 9:00 – 9:15 Trainees will know how to log into Ceridian. Jot down the objective for that portion of the lesson. It should support the overall objective generally found in the instructor material. Remember that objectives are measurable and/or observable. 915 – 9:30 Trainees will find the “Punch” button and understand its use.
The Activity Component Punching In and Out 1/14/07 Ceridian for Employees Pearl Creek 9:00 – 9:15 Trainees will know how to log into Ceridian. Review The Peak – Locate the Ceridian link on The Peak. Enter User IDs and passwords. Change initial login password. Under Activity, describe what will happen during this portion of the lesson. You can be as detailed or brief as you like, as long as you know what to do when you read it. Note that more than one activity can be listed for each objective and time slot. 915 – 9:30 Trainees will find the “Punch” button and understand its use. Discuss when Punching is appropriate. Demonstrate that punching results in logging off.
