H.C.F. • H.C.F. – Highest common factor of two numbers is that largest number which divides the given two numbers.
Methods of finding H.C.F. • Division method • Factorisation method
Divison Method • In this method we divide the larger number by smaller number and then the remainder will divide the divisor. This process will going on untill the remainder don’t be zero. Final divisor will be H.C.F. • Example 16 and 24 16)24(1 16 8)16(2 16 x So 8 is the H.C.F. of two numbers.
Factorisation method • In this method we find out the factors of both the numbers and then find the common factors and multiply them. • Example:- • 16=2X2X2X2 • 24=2X2X2X3 • H.C.F.=2X2X2=8
L.C.M. • Least common multiplier is that number which is divided by given numbers of which we have to find the L.C.M.
Methods of finding L.C.M. • Divison method • Factorisation method
Divison method • In this method we divide both the numbers combindly starting from smallest number until the quotient will be 1. • Then we multiply all the divisors. This is L.C.M.
Factorisation method • In this method we find factors of both the numbers and then multiply all the factors at once(out of common factors also). • 22=2*11 • 56=2*2*2*7 • L.C.M.=2*2*2*7*11=616
Relation between numbers and their L.C.M. & H.C.F. • Number1*number2 = H.C.F. * L.C.M.
