“The Arts and Culture Sector must be better off because of the 2010 and 2010 World Soccer event should be enriched because of the contributions of Arts and Culture” 2 29/01/2008
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES • To promote Arts, Culture and Heritage • To contribute to Social Cohesion • To contribute to Nation Building • To contribute to Poverty Alleviation • To host an African World Cup 3 29/01/2008
UNDERLYING ASPECTS • Consideration must be given to the following throughout the programme and the planned activities: • It must be ALL inclusive: - Women • Children • Youth • People living with disabilities • People living in rural areas All must be provided for in an integrated manner, i.e. they should not be segregated from the mainstream activities 4 29/01/2008
IT MUST BE “AFRICANISED” • It is an African World Cup, and must have a distinct African Flavour. • Artists from the different regions of the African Continent must be incorporated. 5 29/01/2008
IT MUST OFFER OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAINING AND SKILLS TRANSFER e.g. • Curators • Languages (Translators) • Technical Skills (Stage Building) • Artistic Skills 6 29/01/2008
MAIN In FIFA Space Financed by DAC FRINGE Areas outside of FIFA Space Financed by Provinces, Local Authorities and Corporates IT MUST PROVIDE FOR MAIN AND FRINGE PROGRAMMES Fringe must not be considered less important than main. 7 29/01/2008
