  1. MISCONCEPTION ALERT • Translation: When given a mRNA strand to translate, many students mistakenly use the anticodons, instead of the codons, to determine the amino acid sequence. Actually, the genetic code is based on the codons found on the mRNA & not on the anticodons of tRNA. The codon sequence is the genetic code (DNA language) rewritten or transcribed in RNA language.
