  3. Why I’m Interested • Many options • Good pay • Shorter training than medical school • Not as stressful as being an actual physician

  4. What Can a PA Do? • Take patient medical histories • Conduct physical exams • Diagnose and treat illnesses • Order and interpret tests • Develop treatment plans • Counsel on preventive healthcare Assist in surgery • Write prescriptions

  5. Getting to PA School • Undergraduate degree fulfilling prerequisite courses • Find an accredited PA school in Ohio (there are 9) • Volunteer hours • Need a 3.0 minimum GPA in Ohio • GRE

  6. PA School • 26-28 month program • Fulfill the course schedule they have planned • Receive a Master’s Degree

  7. Certification • Take the PANCE (Physician’s assistant national certifying exam) • PA-C : Physician Assistant- Certified • 100 hours of CME every 2 years • Recertification every 10 years
