Arriving at the airport at least two hours ahead of the departure time • Meet at the south Terminal of the Atlanta International Airport around 12:00noon. (inside the hall at luggage check-in desk) • If you are late, we will not wait for you. • NW 5801 (Atlanta Tokyo) 2:10pm, May 8. • Make sure you have your passport, airline ticket, money, and address of ECNU with you on the way to the airport.
At Pudong Airport • NW 27 will arrive at Pudong airport at 9:40pm, May 9. • Please go through the Customs quickly, do not get out of the hall, and wait for the other members in the hall. Local guide will meet us in the hall. You can change $ to RMB there. • If you get lost and cannot find any other members of the group, then you need to take taxi to ECNU.

Should I get RMB here? • Do not get RMB from local banks here • They charge too much and the rate is not good. • You can do it in Shanghai Pudong airport and/or banks in China, or at 4 star Hotels (Xi’an and Beijing) (Minimum $100).
How to Pack • From Shanghai to Changsha to Beijing, you can only have a check-in luggage and a personal carry-on luggage. Size: Check-in: (15.74in x 23.62in x 39.37in, 44 lb) Carry-on: (7.87in x 15.74in x 21.65in, 11 lb) From Beijing to Atlanta, you can have two pieces of check-in luggage (50 lb) and a personal carry-on luggage (9" x 14" x 22“) Delta Baggage Information Remark: you can go shopping at Xian and Beijing.

Room Arrangement • In Shanghai, two students share a room in International Students’ Domitory No.2. • At Changsha Univeristy, two students share an apartment, each has a single room. • In Xi’an and Beijing, stay in 4 star Hotels. Two share a room.
Course Requirements • (40%) Attend each activity (class, group photo, social events) • (5%) Ask questions during invited lectures • (25%) Read five articles in Part I on the following webpage on Chinese education laws: http://math.kennesaw.edu/~jji/resources.htm For each article, you come up with 5-10 questions and provide their answers. (due: May 15, 2009) • (30%) A final project: A comparative study of a subject taught in middle or high school (statistics, vector, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, etc.) or something else. (due: June 30, 2009) • Grade: A (90-100); B(80-89); C(70-79); D(60-69); F(0-59)
Yuan and other renminbi units Renminbi (RMB) 人民币 (Chinese) The base unit of the renminbi is the yuan. This character has two forms — a common simplified form ( 元 ) and a formal form ( 圆 / 圓 ) used to prevent alterations and accounting mistakes.
Renminbi units • One yuan is divided into 10 jiao ( 角 ) • One jiao is divided into 10 fen ( 分 ) • 3.45 yuan would be spoken of as "3 yuan 4 jiao 5 fen"
Symbol of RMB • Although shop prices in the PRC are usually marked with 元 after the digits, a Y with two crossbars (¥) before the numeral digits is also common. The mark below indicates 9元
