  1. Math Lesson Comparing Decimals 10/1/12

  2. This week’s Standard: Our goal or standard for this week is to compare two decimals to the thousandths based on meanings of the digits in each place using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of the comparisons.

  3. How can we compare decimals? • By using decimal cubes. • By using base-ten blocks. • By using a T- chart. Let’s compare the numbers 0.5 and 0.50 What do these numbers look like with decimal cubes; base-ten blocks? When we compare decimals we are deciding which is greater than, less than, or equal to.

  4. Essential Question: How do we compare decimals using a T-chart?

  5. Today’s Task: We will be using the promethean board to practice using a T-chart to compare decimals. We will also spend time working with decimal cubes and base-ten blocks to compare decimals.

  6. This week’s Standard: Our goal or standard for this week is to compare two decimals to the thousandths based on meanings of the digits in each place using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of the comparisons.

One person will record them on your graphic organizer.
