Update on the Atlanta Regional Housing Resource Center June 21, 2007
Background • In February 2006, ARC, ANDP and DCA signed a MOU for development of a Regional Housing Resource Center (RHRC) • RHRC is intended to serve as a regional clearinghouse for housing data that would support decision-making by developers, planners, advocates, and others in the housing industry. • RHRC is intended to be an unbiased public-private-NGO partnered source for all housing issues. So what is currently available on the web????

First on Google under “Atlanta Affordable Homes”. Earthcraft is second and FHLB third
Patrick Dennis 4th on Google under “Atlanta Workforce Housing”
ARC website is only source for housing reports, data and analysis.
Background • Currently the ARC website is the best resource for data, maps and resources in the Atlanta region. 3rd hit on Google for search “Atlanta Housing Data”. (First two hits are www.citydata.com/forum/atlanta/). • However, if you are seeking specific housing information, ARC resources require some investigation and some would say it is a “government” resource. • RHRC site was modeled after the Chicago Area Housing Partnership, a housing and community development website created for the Greater Chicago area.

Conclusion • RHRC is a great concept. • RHRC is needed as housing resources while available are not organized well. • RHRC has made a great start. • But RHRC is not well supported. • And RHRC will not exist without more partners and resources. • Need $ and more interest from NGOs
