  2. What is Downloading? • To receive data from a remote system to a local one. • Is is to copy data from a source to a device. • It can also refer to copying a file from a network file server to a computer on the network.

  3. Examples of items that can be downloaded • Microsoft Presentations • Pictures from your friends • Computer games which you like

  4. What is Uploading? • Uploading is the opposite of downloading. • It provides data from a local system to a remote one. • It has the same properties as downloading.

  5. Example of Files that can be uploaded • Videos • Softwares • Pictures • Documents

  6. What is an URL? • URL stands for Uniform Resource Locater, and is also known as web address. • It is a character string which constitutes a reference to a source. • A URL contains a scheme name, a server name, a domain name, a port number and the path of the resource.

  7. What is a Web Browser? • A web browser is a software application for receiving and providing information from the World Wide Web.

  8. Examples of web browsers • Internet Explorer • Mozilla Firefox • Google Chrome • Opera • Safari
