  2. IMPORTANCE OF C-HEXAGON FOR TRAFFIC CIRCULATION • C-Hexagon is a large traffic rotary with 11 feeder roads. • It is a part of north-south and east – west corridor. • Has six lanes with pedestrian traffic lights (Pelican) at Rajpath, Tilak Marg and Shahjahan junctions. • Moderate to heavy pedestrian flow especially at the signalized junctions. • Gridlock at C-Hexagon creates traffic jam on feeder roads thereby affecting other parts of Delhi.

  3. FACTORS RESULTING IN GRIDLOCK • Out-flow of traffic from C-Hexagon becomes less than the in-flow resulting in traffic pile up on the rotary. • Vehicular traffic fills up all the lanes without any consideration for exiting vehicles. • There is no space on the left lane for exit of vehicles from C-Hexagon.

  7. The only solution: Forcibly ejected Stopped from entering .

  8. CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR REMOVING THE GRIDLOCK • Restrictions on entry of vehicles into C-Hexagon and forcing the exit of vehicles so that the rotary starts moving. • Diversion of heavy vehicles on outer periphery. • Diversion of general traffic to C-Hexagon on Outer Hexagon. • Ensuring smooth mobility on alternative North-South and East – West Corridors.
