AIM OF THE PROJECT • To develop Interfacing tools in Solidworks using Visual basic and to make the software more user-friendly.
OBJECTIVE • There are some discrepancies faced while working with Solid works. • The objective is to overcome the hurdles and rectify the uneasiness in working with Solid works and take advantages of potential time saving that automation provides.
REASON FOR CHOOSING THE PROJECT • To automate the Solidworks workflow. • To create our own commands in Solidworks which will perform the activities required by us and make the software more user friendly.
Programming Interfacing tools • Programming interfacing tools (API), are used to automate and customize the SolidWorks software. • API is a set of routines, protocols and tools for building software applications. • API contains hundreds of functionswhich provides direct access to the Solidworks functionality.
METHODOLOGY • First phase is to identify the uneasiness in Solid Works, which is done by practicing with Solid Works. • Second phase is to generate corresponding codes in Visual Basic • Finally icons corresponding generated coding is to be created in Solidworks.
PROJECT NARRATIVE We have found list of difficulties such as • Distance between the parts in assembly view. • Transparent view of assembled components. • Part file location and specification in a drawing. • Conversion of units of dimension. • Chamfer dimensions in drawing document.
SOFTWARES USED • Solidworks • Visual Basic
