Objectives of the ICT Programme • - Establish an enabling environment to promote the usage of ICT in • schools. • Enhance the learning levels of students in Mathematics, Pure Sciences, • Social Sciences, Language and numerous Extra- Curricular activities • - Promote critical thinking and analytical skills by developing self • learning • - Enable students to acquire skills needed for the digital world for • higher studies and gainful employment. • Build capacity in teachers to upgrade their learning and teaching skills by • using ICT tools. • GOK/ICT-2/14

ICT for students - 1 • 2000 • Radio Programmes on Akashavani • Chinnara Chukki for class I to II • Chukki Chinna for class III to V • Keli Kali for class VI to VIII • No. of Lessons – 405 • Coverage 60,823 schools • 87 lakh children • Interactive lessons were broadcast from 10 stations of Akashvani • Teachers were provided with time table and hand book in advance • They were enabled to synchronize their teaching with the broadcasts • GOK/ICT-4/14

Impact study - Centre for Multi Disciplinary Research (CMDR), Dharwad • Study showed • Improvement of enrolment and attendance • Increase of computer literacy among students and teachers • Larger number of computer-trained teachers • Enhanced computer-aided learning by students • Significant increase in pass percentage in Tenth Standard Public Exam • 2. Impact study - IMRB, Bangalore • Study showed • 83% of teachers said that they are using ICT regularly • 86% of Principals said ICT had a positive impact on teachers and students • GOK/ICT-13/14
