What are the 4 things that MUST be done BEFORE you can enter the lab area? • 1. Sign off pre-lab assignment • 2. Stow backpacks/chairs • 3. Goggle on • 4. Hair up/clothing secure.
What happens (3 things) if your pre-lab assignment is not completed? Sit out on lab Make up lab- within 1 week 30% deduction on lab grade
Provide 3 behaviors that would cause you to go to the office during a lab activity. (BE SPECIFIC) Unauthorized experiments Horseplay Pranks Practical jokes Endangering anyone
Provide 3 ways of losing 5 points in lab. For each, explain the reasoning for the deductions. Sitting on lab table- because there might be chemical on lab Asking about how to do the lab- because the teacher can’t hold your hand through out the lab Dirty Lab items/station- because its not fair for the next class to clean up your mess
What behavior would cause you to lose 10 points from your lab grade? Why can’t you do this behavior? Leaving the lab station- because you are not paying attention to your experiment and you are distracting others from theirs.
There are 3 ways of receiving zeros for your lab grade, what are they? Not behaving (rule 3) Not wearing goggles in lab area Not participating in the lab
If you are not dressed appropriately for lab, what happens? You have to sit out on lab activity. Come in within the week to make up lab Lab grade will be reduced by 30%
If you find a beaker of a clear liquid in the lab area, what would you do? Leave it there Tell Mrs. Mayhan
What do you do if a chemical splashes in your face? Head to the eyewash-LEAVE GOGGLES ON Place face in water stream- 10-15 minutes
