  1. Grade-Point Average (GPA) The grade-point average is the ratio of the total grade points earned to the total credit hours attempted (excluding courses taken on a pass/fail basis and courses with grades of "W" or "I"). Total grade points are derived by multiplying the number of credit hours for the course by the number of grade points assigned to the grade earned. • Classes that are below the 100 level do not count into GPA. Other symbols used: AU (Audit): has no value in computing GPA. F: represents unsatisfactory achievement in a course taken on a pass/fail basis. Is has no value in computing GPA. I (Incomplete): is calculated as an E grade in the GPA. The I will automatically go to an E after one year if the work is not completed. W (Withdrawal): has no value in computing GPA. P: represents a satisfactory grade in a course taken on a pass/fail basis. It has no value in computing GPA. MP: represents Making Progress in a developmental course. It has no value in computing GPA. GPA Calculation MCTC- Office of the Registrar Example: Question: What will my GPA be if I make a B in all my courses this semester?
