30 Month Meeting Productionof Final Top Layer
Activitiesof last 6 months • Further trails at hotmelt unit to combine spunbond nonwoven • with EVA including modified Arginotec • Further trials at lamination unit to improve the properties of nonwoven/EVA-compound (combination with additional nonwoven) • Final conclusion: • EVA including Arginotec is not suitable to be used as barrier layer, oil resistance cannot be achieved test results from Gerhard • Therefore, final solution is the a top layer consisting of nonwoven/PVB film and two layers of Surfapaint plus a protective film at the surface • Activities of STFI: • Production of 100 m sample material at the lamination unit sent to Gerhard for further processing • Activities for IPR and exploitation (together with all partners)
Compositionofthe final top layer • Thin nonwoven layer (spunbond nonwoven made from polyamid fibres) laminated at the back side with PVB film as barrier layer • (thickness 50 µm) width around 90 cm • Pre-fabricated uncoated material was sent to Börner for further processing since the lab coating unit at STFI has only 50 cm width • Coating was done at a professional textile finishing company • The laminated nonwoven layer was twice coated with NANOPHOS paint (SURFAPAINT + 3% Arginotec) feedback from Gerhard Twolayers ofNANOPHOS paint (SURFAPAINT + 3% Arginotec)) Protective film Polyamidspunbondnonwoven (35 g/m²) PVB barrier film
Productionofthe top layer – machinery Flatbedlamination unitat STFI (applicationof PVB barrier film) Coating unit at STFI (was used for lab trials, final coating at a fini-shing company)
Top layer – assessmentofproduction/processing • Final summary from STFIs point of view: • Lamination of PVB film at the lamination unit without any • problems (thickness of 50 µm can easily be processed together • with the selected spunbond nonwoven) • Coating trials at the lab unit surface was evenly coated and with a dense paint layer • Sometimes lump formation (depending on processing time/duration) • Conclusion: paint needs for processing under industrial scale some improvements to avoid lump formation and thickening of paint after a certain processing time • Experience with coating at the finishing company feedback from Gerhard
Summary • All technical activities concerning • hotmelt, lamination and coating • trials have been finished • All activities for sample production • have been finished • Remaining activities until end of the project will concern: • WP6 - LCA and cost calculation • WP8 - IPR and exploitation • Technical and financial reporting
