Heroes • What made the man in the water a hero? • Saved other people’s lives before his own • Why do you think the writer of the article left out the hero’s name? • What is an “unsung” hero?
“The Leap” • Go to the link in your gMail to the backchannel room • Listen to the audio recording of the story • Make SENTENCES that: • Show evidence of active reading (S) • Identify how the mother is, or is not, a hero (O) • What made the mother a hero? • Is she an everyday hero? How? • Is she an unsung hero? How?
Unsung Heroes • In your Kidblog, make a 100+ word post with the tag “unsung” (no category) • Write a eulogy to one of the unsung heroes (the man in the article yesterday, the mother in “The Leap”, or one of the other everyday heroes you found) • If your unsung hero is not dead yet, write it as if s/he had died doing the heroic act
