He has become nationally renowned for his pioneering work in Primary Care Medicine, HIV Medicine, stem cell research and for his widely-read medical blog on Facebook. Dr. Cohan received his undergraduate degrees in English and Biology (1982) from Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts, did postgraduate research (1983) at Cambridge University in England

  4. Work with HIV/AIDS Dr. Cohan’s medical training coincided with the early years of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980’s. While most of his medical colleagues were shying away from this devastating, poorly understood and highly stigmatizing disease, Dr. Cohan received specialist training in HIV care at San Francisco General Hospital and devoted his medical efforts to combating this new plague, caring for desperately ill and often neglected patients.
