  6. Montogmery Bus Boycott Who: This boycott involved thousands of African American residents of the Alabama city. History most often tells us of Rosa Parks, the first woman to be arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white man, and Martin Luther King, who came to Birmingham to help organize the boycott. Modern Legacy Sparked by Mrs. Parks’ action, the boycott lasted 381 days, into December 1956 when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the segregation law was unconstitutional and the Montgomery buses were integrated.
