Member Benefits Primary benefits SIGACCESS newsletter (online, three times per year) Reduced registration at sponsored and in-cooperation conferences and workshops Access to the above materials through DL SIGACCESS-MEMBERS email list Additional benefits for the community SIGACCESS website Sponsorship of ASSETS and other relevant conferences and workshops Advocacy for computing and people with disabilities SIGACCESS Best Paper and Best Student Paper awards at the ASSETS conference SIGACCESS Award for Outstanding Contributions to Computing and Accessibility Repository of PhD dissertations and Masters degree theses on accessibility topics Two new benefits started this year ACCESS-ANNOUNCEMENTS email list for accessibility related information and events SIGACCESS Scholarship in Computers and Accessibility supporting practitioners, researchers, members of advocacy groups, and individuals with disabilities who are interested in the field of computers and accessibility, to actively participate in the ASSETS conference and gain experience and knowledge from interacting with experts in the field 2

SIGACCESS Goals SIGACCESS will be the focal point for the international research community interested in accessibility/computing To accomplish this goal, we will focus on two key sets of activities Build and support an international community that produces and disseminates high quality research results Promote the development of a new generation of scientists 3

International community creating and disseminating high quality research results Lead effort to establish ACM Transactions on Accessible Computing International ACM SIGACCESS Conference on Computers and Accessibility Working to make ASSETS more international 1996 - Canada; 2002 - Scotland; 2006 - Canada; 2011/2012 - Europe Workshops Goal is to begin supporting periodic workshops that focus on regions or topics that are under-represented within the ASSETS conference Additional communication channels include SIGACCESS web site Email lists (Members-only and new Access-announcements for broader reach) Newsletter Additional mechanisms including social networking technologies are being considered to supplement those mechanisms listed above 4

Supporting a new generation of scientists Doctoral Consortium held in conjunction with ASSETS 52 participants since 2005 Nine have completed their PhD Five are now Assistant Professors One is a researcher at Georgia Tech One is a researcher at Stony Brook One with IBM Research One with Sun Two in faculty positions (ABD) Remainder appear to be continuing their studies Repository of PhD dissertations and Masters degree theses on accessibility topics New Scholarships to support travel to ASSETS conference 5
