4. What is sustainability? Definition: The ability to support a system through adequate financial and human resources accounting for current maintenance and long-term enhancements. Producing an enduring, efficient, effective, and sustainable ECIDS—is not a start-and-finish endeavor; there will always be more work to do to ensure it remains current and relevant. Sustainability can take many forms—the most important of which may often be showing the value of the data in informing decisions.
