What is Life Science? • It is middle school Biology, the branch of science that covers LIVING THINGS!
CLASSROOM RULES: • Be on time, in seat, when the bell rings. • Bring materials to class every day. • Raise your hand to speak or leave seat. • No food, gum, drinks, candy/mints, iPods, cell phones, or texting. • Show respect, restraint, and responsibility! • REMEMBER “THE BIG 3!”

At the beginning of class… *Line up outside & wait for door to open. *Come in quietly, get materials out, then place belongings in special spot & sit down. *Be sure pencils are sharpened before class! *Check board for instructions and work on your Do-Now!
During class… • Keep 6 legs on the floor at all times! • Listen to your teacher, follow directions and stay on-task. • If working in small groups, stay seated with your group; raise hand if you need assistance. • If working on a Lab, be sure to follow instructions so you can finish the lab on time. • FOLLOW ALL LAB SAFETY RULES!
At the end of class… • Clean up! Throw away trash, straighten the desks, etc. then sit back down. • If texts were used, put them back where they belong. • Turn in your work with your heading on it! • Listen for homework instructions; write things down in your planner. • Wait for the TEACHER to dismiss the class.
OTHER CLASSROOM SITUATIONS: • FIRE DRILLS: Line up; stay together as you exit the room, halls, and building. Look for your teacher and meet up out back in front of the tennis courts. NO TALKING OR HORSEPLAY! • RESTROOM: Use restroom before class begins! No passes unless it’s an emergency!
WHAT MAKES UP MY GRADE? DAILY WORK (C.W. & H.W.)= 40% TESTS,PROJECTS,NOTEBOOK = 30% LABS/ACTIVITIES = 30%
WHAT ABOUT TESTS? TESTS ARE ALWAYS ANNOUNCED IN ADVANCE! WRITE THE DATE DOWN IN YOUR PLANNER AND STUDY A LITTLE BIT EVERY NIGHT TO BE PREPARED!
MAKE-UP WORK: • Check the 9-week’s calendar and the folders in front of the room to see what you missed! VERY IMPORTANT! YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKE-UP WORK! • Make-up work must be turned in by the deadline---LATE WORK = ZERO!
6th Period special instructions: • Please place chairs on top of your desks at dismissal. • This makes it easier for the custodians to sweep the room! • DON’T FORGET TO RECYCLE!
