  1. Status report of the SCMilano December 16th 2013

  2. Status of the experiment • Papers published • 1) SOX paper accepted by JHEP (July 2013); • SOX: Short distance neutrino Oscillations with Borexino • 2) Cosmogenic paper has been published by JCAP: JCAP08(2013)049; • Cosmogenic Backgrounds in Borexino at 3800 m water-equivalent depth • 3) Heavy sterile neutrino paper: published on Phys.Rev.D 88,072010; • New limits on heavy sterile neutrino mixing in 8B decay obtaied with the Borexino detector • 4) Be7 long submitted to PRD: comments from referees(see Gemma’s talk) • Final results of Borexino Phase-I on low energy solar neutrino spectroscopy;

  3. Status of the experiment • Cooling of the Borexino electronics room • New conditioning system for the electronics room is being installed (the previous system was old and inefficient) . Should be ready by the end of the year (see talk by Pino Bonfini on this); • Neutron analog system • The so-called Princeton neutron analog system has been dismissed; • For the pep-CNO analysis we should use the FADC system which is based on the same analog sum (see Evgeny’s talk on this) • Detector stability • Continuous monitoring of the PMT status (Wednesday ‘s mantainance) • 70 PMTs disconnected in 2013 (until December 2013) • 598 PMTs disconnected in total so far

  4. PMT status (G.Bonfini) Continuous monitoring of the PMT status (Wednesday’s mantainance) 269 22 19 22 46 63 91 70 (December2013) TOT 598 disconnetted PMTs

  5. Status of the experiment • Data-taking • Data-taking is going smoothly; • We have collected about 550days of good BX Phase 2 data; • New regime for shifts since january 2013: one Run Coordinator (which changes monthly) and one shifter (weekly); • Migration to CNAF (see talk by Marcin) • Migration to CNAF is completed; • dst production, reprocessing, data analysis, cvs moved on CNAF; • Only DAQ and production is still on LNGS machiine

  6. New calibration campaign • The calibration campaign for Borexino Phase 1 was performed in 2009; • We need to perform a new calibration campaign for Borexino Phase 2; • When? Two possible time scales: • Before SOX ~ end of 2014, beginnning of 2015 (risk to introduce contamination for SOX); • After SOX ~ 2016 (good for SOX, but maybe too far from the current conditions of the detector); • To be decided soon;
