Language & Culture • When the Aryans invade they bring with them Sanskrit Language which lays the foundation of Hindu Religion • When Aryans invade historians believe their was some fighting between the invading Aryans & the Dravidians of Harappan societies • However, eventually the two cultures infuse and the caste system is formed
Caste System was a social system made up of different groups Brahmin (Priest & Kings) Kshastriyats (Warriors) Vaishyas (Peasants & Artisans) Shudras (Untouchables) 2. Language & Culture
The Caste System overtime became very rigid & set with people marrying and doing jobs only associated with your caste The Untouchables were Non-Aryans and did jobs no one else would do 2. Language & Culture
Aryans brought with them the Vedas, the most important being the Rig Veda, which contained prayers, rituals, and stories of creation The Vedas and Dravidian Religion, the Belief in Shiva combine to form Hinduism 3. Religion

Atman- A person eternal self • Dharma- A person’s sacred duty he must perform, and if he fulfills his duty he will be reborn to a higher caste or person • Samsara- “Wheel of Rebirth” or Reincarnation, a person will keep getting reborn until they achieve Moksha
3. Religion • Basic Hindu Beliefs; • Moksha: release from the cycle of rebirth: eternal bliss • Karma: actions or deeds that are good or bad based on if we follow our dharma “If my sacred duty is to be a student, and fail at that, then I will create bad karma” • “We reap what we sow”
