What are Oxygen Enrichment Systems? • An oxygen enrichment system for an internal combustion is a patent pending vacuum pressure swing adsorption process that increases the concentration of oxygen within air by decreasing nitrogen. The new aspects of this technology include a monolithic zeolite honeycomb structure that decreases pressure drop, increase surface area, decreases power use of the system, and increases efficiency compared to traditionally used zeolite pellets. There is also a new wastegate design that allows normal air to be used when idle and increased cycle times without increased weight when idle or off; this all increases the efficiency of the system. Along with this, there is a new vacuum pump design and an optimized VPSA design for internal combustion engine architecture.
