  2. Background, History and Mission of HSUS • The Humane Society of the U.S. was founded in 1954 • satisfies the physical and emotional needs of domestic animals • To protect wild animals and their habitats • To have respect and compassion for all animals

  3. Problems • Not enough people adopting dogs or cats • Not enough money to care for the animals

  4. Goals • To get more attention on the shelter to attract people • Get the animals adopted in to a good home • Raise money for the shelter, to better care for the animals

  5. Target Publics • People who love animals • People in the local and surrounding areas • Families in need of a family pet

  6. Objectives • Get information out there so that prospective adopters can see it • Making it noticeable to the type of public that would possibly adopt • Also making sure that people are able to donate, and know about it

  7. Action Strategies • Must make a change in awareness • Need to find ways to get donations • Find ways to get more volunteers

  8. Strategies and Tactics • Seek volunteers, like high school or college students interested in animals • Make them more visible to the public by holding an auction, advertising on popular websites, etc. • Get donations, find ways to put the Humane Society in the public for donations • Keep updated facts, and information on the sites website, and make certain events known with posters and bulletins

  10. Budget • Media Advertisement: 450 • Flyers, Signs etc: 200 • End of Campaign Dinner: 350 • Total: 1000

  11. Evaluation • Look at reports to show whether there has been an increase in adoptions • The more animals are adopted the less money will be spent keeping them healthy • Volunteers will help with less spending as well
