  1. Joint Observing Programs • Have agreement with SOHO to tie into their JOP system. • Already used for TRACE, RHESSI • SDO also interested • JOPs describe a set of science observations involving multiple instruments or observatories. • Good way to advertise observations to bring in additional collaborators. • Can also be used for collaborative science analysis. • Will include links to STEREO-specific JOPs from SSC website. • SOHO also has a campaign database system, but this is probably overkill for STEREO

  2. Possible JOPS • SECCHI campaign, May 1-15, 2007. • S1 lunar swingby, Dec 15, 2006. • Ulysses quadratures, Dec 2006-May 2007, and Dec 2007-May 2008. • Steve Suess and Giannina Poletto points of contact for SOHO/UVCS plans • Write-up at http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/soc/UlyPosAng2007-2008.pdf • Ulysses ecliptic plane passage, August 2007. • Collaborations with Messenger, Venus Express, Mars Express. • Existing SOHO JOPs could also be edited to reflect STEREO – volunteers anyone?

  3. What does a JOP contain? • Title • Author(s) • Update History • Participating observatories • Scientific Objective • Scientific Justification • Why STEREO data is important to JOP • Operational Considerations • e.g. real-time commanding required, target selection method, fall-back strategies, etc. • Observing strategies • Dates (if available)

  4. S1 Lunar Swingby, Dec 15th 2006

  5. Instrument Resources Pages • A useful concept is to have resource pages for each instrument. • Similar format for each instrument. • Provides information about file formats, calibration, analysis software, and contact information. • We ask that each STEREO team provide and maintain such a page. • See the SOHO pages at the URL below for examples. http://soho.nascom.nasa.gov/mission/instruments.html
