  4. Pending budgetary needs • Fiber • UPS • 1 Gig cards for existing MDF switches.

  5. Timeframe • Start work immediately on fiber infrastructure • Start configuration of switches week of 2/7 • Start switch installs first week of March • Complete 9 buildings by end of Spring semester

  6. Concerns that can affect order/timeframe • Fiber infrastructure • Power/UPS • Cooling • Rack space

  7. Process • Bring dual gig links in from core gear at Engineering and NESB. Attach these connections to new CIC switch. • Connect CIC switch in front of current MDF switch and provide two gig links into existing building switch. • Attach environmental controls, life-safety, video, alarms, cardkey to switch. • Designate new CIC switch as “demark”

  8. Phase 2 • Research concerns, 10G needs, other…? • Consider buildings connected at only 100M? • Consider buildings not affiliated with a College or a specific “hub” (don’t have a “see xyz…” in bandwidth utilization column)? • Consider buildings with bandwidth issues/concerns?
