  4. Teddy’s Inventors • Two toymakers in two different continents (Europe & North America) create it at the same time. • One was Morris Michtom in the US • The other was Richard Steiff in Germany. • This was in the early 20th Century around 1900

  11. Here is the story about Teddy’s name : Michtom owned a small gift & candy store in New York, and made toy bears for sale. Michtom sent President Theodore Roosevelta bear and asked permission to name the bear after him. Roosevelt said yes.

His helpers helped him by tying a Black Bear to a tree. They called Teddy and suggested that he shoot it. He won’t kill it. The journalist drew the cartoon and published it in the newspaper.

  25. What you need to make a bear • Any material : cloth, fur, felt • Stuffing : cotton • Decorations : buttons for eyes, ribbons
