Operational Summary • No TBM attacks into Kuwait yesterday • TBM launcher struck in Southern Iraq • UK forces destroyed Iraqi armored vehicles leaving Basrah • Civilians come under fire from regime paramilitaries • Oil well fire mitigation efforts continue • Progress against 3 remaining oil well fires is being made by Coalition and Kuwaiti firefighters

  9. Security Situation Update • Rear Area Threat: Threat Condition High. “Scud” attack still possible. • NO GO Areas: Northern Kuwait Border into Iraq • Limited opening of Umm Qasr

  10. Security Situation Update • CA assessments continue at a pace commensurate with the local security conditions • KU and US military state, traveling to Iraq is still unstable. Close interaction with HOC prior to departure is highly recommended to ensure receipt of the most recent security updates • Paramilitary forces pose threat to HA activities

Southern Highlights • Repair of water treatment plant near Basrah ongoing • Report of 50% capability restored • Umm Qasr • 23 HA trucks arrived from GoK • Construction continues on water pipeline to Umm Qasr; on track for 30 March opening • Umm Qhayal • Population estimated at 30,000; one day water supply • British forces delivering water; two tanker trucks • Coalition forces are using a fleet of more than two dozen water tankers transporting water to areas not yet determined permissive
