Conclusions Pre-fire conditions perfect for an inferno High rainfall = vegetation build up No fires for at least 8 years Terrain great for fires – sparse agriculture surrounded by mountains with shrubland vegetation Extremely dangerous conditions just before fire Possible spotting Fire rushed up side of mountain fuelled by South-Easter Houses burnt down Agricultural fields Vast tract of protected area burnt prematurely Cape Nature Started fire to eradicate alien timber plantations?
