This report provides an overview of the Americas Aerospace Quality Group (AAQG) and its involvement in the aviation, space, and defense industries in the Americas, with a focus on the inclusion of Aveos as a member and its role as a full-service maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider. It also discusses the Americas Aerospace Quality Standards Committee (AAQSC) and the Registration Management Committee (RMC).

Overview • The Americas Sector of the IAQG, the Americas Aerospace Quality Group (AAQG), is a cooperative organization within the Aviation, Space and Defense industries in North, South and Central America; • The AAQG is a committee of the SAE Institute; • Organizations participating in the AAQG include Original Equipment Manufacturers, Suppliers, Government Representatives, Accreditation Bodies, Certification Bodies, Academia and Consulting Firms;

  4. Overview (cont’d) • There are now 20 organizations with voting membership within the AAQG; • Aveos’ application for membership was agreed during the AAQG September meeting. With the inclusion of Aveos, the AAQG has expanded its involvement into the MRO environment.

Aveos • Brief History • 1937: Air Canada forms a Technical Services Division (ACTS) • 1968: Air Canada Technical Services starts serving non-Air Canada customers • 2005: ACTS becomes inaugural member of Airbus MRO Network • 2007: ACTS acquires Aeroman in El Salvador. • 2008:ACTS becomes Aveos • Aveos is a full-service maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider of airframe, engine, component and maintenance solutions.

  7. AAQSC • The standards development arm of the AAQG is the Americas Aerospace Quality Standards Committee (AAQSC); • The AAQSC is responsible for the creation and maintenance of Aerospace Standards (AS) and Aerospace Recommended Practices (ARP).

  8. Registration Management Committee (RMC) • The RMC is a committee of the AAQG and is responsible for reviewing and recommending approval for: • Accreditation Bodies • Auditor Authentication Bodies • Certification Bodies • Auditors • Aerospace Competency Auditor training programs

  9. Registration Management Committee (RMC) • This responsibility also includes oversight of the Industry Controlled Other Party (ICOP) Aerospace Quality Management System (AQMS) certification process and; • Performing an annual review of the effectiveness of the system. • By the nature of it work, this is the most activity in the Americas.

  12. Meetings • The remaining scheduled meetings of the AAQG for 2010 are: • RMC July 20th -23rd Atlanta GA • AAQG/AAQSC/RMC September 13th -16th Salt Lake City, UT • These meetings are opened to all, except where there are potential issues of conflict or confidentiality.
