Freshman Year • Orientation • Family Members – pre-scheduled meetings to begin on or around the mid of November
Why are the Counselors here? • Build a 4 yr. relationship • To help navigate through the HS experience • Counseling, advocating, listening, supporting, encouraging, information, building self-advocacy & life skills • Help set goals • Recognize strengths & weaknesses • Help to determine course of study • Post high school planning
Schedules & Graduation Requirements • Reading a schedule • 80 minute blocks ( yellow handout ) • 2nd semester classes • 6.5 credits each year – will graduate with more than the minimum 22 credits • All classes bear credits that count towards graduation • Graduation requirements (green handout)
Opportunities Academically challenging school More homework- it counts. Teacher communication All students do not have the same schedules. Back to School Nite – Thurs. 10/2 7 pm High School Expectations
